Ice Ball @ Concubine Lane, Ipoh

Wow!!! Ice ball. Familiar with the name? It is like back in the olden times again where you get shaved ice in a form of a ball. Now we can find it in Concubine Lane also known as "Yi Lai Hong ", Ipoh. The process of making it is very simple. I saw the lady doing it, she put the chunk of ice into the ice shaving machine, and there's the shaved ice. She scoops it up into two small bowls and combines it together. The remaining ice bits are also put together to form a big ball. You need to choose two flavours given. The lady will pour the syrup on the ice ball. Half the ice ball with each flavour. I've chosen rose and orange. Mmmmmm.... Then you are given two satay sticks where you can hold the ice ball upright. Eat it fast!!! Or it will melt..... Only RM3.00 per ball.

Restaurant Thean Chun

Restaurant Thean Chun is located 73, Jalan Bandar Timah, 31650, Ipoh Perak or next to Kong Heng. A restaurant that is famous for their chee cheong fun and egg custards.

This restaurant is always busy. All age groups can be found here, it's not a very cool place, but food here are certainly delicious.

What's famous in Ipoh? The answer will always be White Coffee. This is the classic white coffee, in a porcelain mug and saucer. The coffee here is awesome!!!! They serve you Chang Jiang White Coffee. Rich but not bitter.

This is also white coffee but with ice. Did I mention that Chang Jiang 3 in 1 coffee are also sold in this restaurant.

Other than white coffee, what do they drink in the olden times? Kopi O of course. It's good as well, not watery nor too sweet.

Their famous Egg custards.... Mmmmmm... Haven't have these for a long long time. Need a little sweetness in my life.... <3 <3 <3 Soft and sweet. Having dessert after a meal is heaven.

Last but not least, chee cheong fun. There's mushroom sauce, original, and curry. MMmmmmm.... RM3.50 per plate. It is very lovely, noodles are soft and springy, sauce taste just right, topped with fried onions (WONDERFUL!!!!) and sesame. You can request for pickled green chilies as well. The chili is not spicy at all. Taste great when it goes together with it.

Hoe Kiong 72 @ Batang Kali

Hoe Kiong 72 is a nice place to eat when you are in Batang Kali. Free wifi available. You can get the password from the restaurant owner.

House branded beancurd. RM12.00 only. Really nice. Soft and tasty.

This dish is highly recommended to everyone. "Lai yau yu" or butter fish. What's special about this fish is, you will never be afraid of getting a bone stuck in your throat because they remove every single bone. Besides, it is super crunchy. Deep fried, so it is crunchy on the outside but soft in the inside. RM40.00 for this dish. However, the price is not fixed as it varies to the size of the fish.

This is the kangkung cooked in belacan. We asked for less belacan and it turned out to be too less. Hardly any taste of belacan. Maybe, we should not ask for less. RM12 for this dish.

Bittergourd cooked with roasted pork. They are not the best cook when it comes to this dish. The roasted pork are quite fat, and the dish is not that awesome after all. RM20.

This is the chicken. Supposely to be cooked in some sort of wine? But it taste more like herbs. This is cooked with a free range chicken, so the chicken meat is quite tough. Hardly peeling of its bone.... I don't really like this. RM28.

White rice is served here. It is in the correct size.
A dinner for seven in Hoe Kiong 72 sums up to RM126.60, quite reasonable.
