Ipoh's Smallest Fishballs @ Falim

This place is located at Jalan Foo Wah Cheng, 31450, Falim, Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. It is known as "Mangkat Tau" (in Cantonese). Do find your parking at some dry spots as the place can be quite muddy after a rainy day. Also be considerate to park your car properly so that it will not block the roads as it is quite narrow.

Can't really describe where the place is because not much landmark that I could use. I would say it is located behind this Restoran Kapitan.
Not the cleanest and most fascinating place to eat, but they serves you good food. Not advisable to wear shorts as there might be mosquitoes around waiting for you. Bring along your own electrical fan if you think you might melt siting there as it is quite a warm place.
This is the stall that serves you noodles and the smallest fishballs.

A close up view of the stall. Preparing the best noodles and fishballs for you to enjoy.

Fried wanton, fu pei, yong tau foo are available here. Choose your favourites here. Take as much as you can eat and afford, but please do not waste food because it is so precious.

The drinks finally arrived. 2 glasses of white coffee, 1 glass of Teh Ice, and 1 glass of Kopi O. I don't find the drinks very fascinating as some are quite watery.

Finally, our food arrived. 4 plates of  dried curry noodles, and the fried wantons, yong tau fu, and 20 fishballs. Huh?? 20?? You must be out of your mind. How can 4 person finish 20 fishballs. I'll show you later.

So, this is the noodles. They separated the curry oil out. Put according to your own taste, but you can just put all into the noodles. It is not spicy at all, guaranteed. Love the noodles..... Not too oily, not too salty, just the right taste.

Now let me show you the fishballs. We always save the best for last right? So yeah, 5 for each person. This is like super small. You can easily fit 10 fishballs into your mouth at once. 5 isn't enough at all, but they are quite costly I would say. RM0.20 for each small fishballs, but I would say it is worth the price as it is delicious. Solid and tasty. Mmmmm... So our bill sums up to RM21.00.

Pusat Makanan L Dan L

It has been a long time since this place last operated. Remember it used to be Golden Point (Wong Kam) Food Court last time? Now it is newly refurbished and named Pusat Makanan L dan L.

All the stalls are neatly arranged on both sides of the food court.

A very spacious place to accommodate by many. Tour guides can bring their tourists to eat here as well. A vast variety of food to be enjoyed by all.

This stall caught my attention. It is called Nasi Kandar Mahathir. This stall sells roti canai, nasi lemak, maggi goreng, tosai and capati. Everything sounds too good.....

So, I've ordered Roti Cheese. So far, I have not tried Roti Cheese. So, here it is. Less cheese but it is totally fine. More cheese meaning 'GET FAT'...... How much cheese would it be when the Roti Cheese only cost RM2.20?? However, it comes with 2 types of curry ( dhal and curry) and chili. So far, I have not tried Roti with chili. It sounds kinda weird and taste weird too.

Always my favourite, White Coffee. Nice, love it too.

If you walk to the end of the food court, you'll find this stall selling tid-bits. All are the best for tea time. Freshly fried "yau char guai" or "you tiao", "mar guik", egg tarts (dan tat), kaya puff (kaya kok), yam cake (wu tau gou), and many more.

Everything just looks too good and delicious, but my favourite would always be 'yau char guai". It is only RM1.00 for one.

Last but not least, fried kway teow. Love it.

Sun Yuan Loong

Sun Yuan Loong is one of the famous coffee shops in Ipoh. It was said to be siblings with Sun Yoon Loong in Old Town. Sun Yuan Loong is located at Medan Bendehara 2, Taman Taiping, 31650 Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. All the best in looking for a parking and a place to sit because it is really crowded, especially on weekends.

Can you see how crowded it is? People are willing to wait even though there are no available places to sit.

Their signature, of course, their White Coffee and butter and kaya toast. So, I've ordered 3 cups of Iced White Coffee, 1 cup of Kopi O' Ice, and Kaya and butter toast (double). It sums up to RM8.50. Love the white coffee as it is creamy and rich in flavour. Not too sweet or too bitter. Their kaya and butter toast, sweet and crispy.

My favourite food here would be the glutinous rice.  So, this is the stall.

You can observe how she prepares the food.

This is the normal glutinous rice, "lo mai fan" for RM3.00. Comes with eggs, roasted pork, bbq pork, chinese sausages, peanuts and curry with potatoes. Love it. Love the curry too, its not spicy and tasty.

This is the turmeric glutinous rice, "wong guing fan", also for RM3.00. Almost similar to the glutinous rice. I recommend you to try this when you are here in Sun Yuan Loong.

Family Cafe & Catering

Family Cafe and Catering is located at 19, Laluan Ipoh Permai 1, Taman Ipoh Permai, 31400 Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. The cafe is located beside a clinic.

If you seriously have no idea where's the cafe, check it out on the map.

To update yourself on what's special on that day, you can check it out on the blackboard by the entrance. Did you realize it says, GST free? WOHOO!!! No GST!!!

Or you can check the "Today's special" on the blackboard near the kitchen. By the way, look at the setting of the cafe, so vintage looking with all their vintage decorations. They also put on romantic oldies here.

Look at all those vintage looking posters and that unique clock (Union Jack). Gives customer a warm and cozy feeling to enjoy their meal.

Their menu.

First of all, our all time favourites, Coffee and Kopi O.

Hawaii Chicken Rice. Cooked in tomato sauce but it is slightly hot. Contains capsicum, onions, chicken, tomato, pineapple, and cucumber. It tasted okay.

Next, fried rice. Just like any other fried rice, tasted okay. Not spicy.

Recently, I've got this Pineapple fried rice obsession. So, here we go again, pineapple fried rice. Contains pineapple, chicken, onions, raisins, corns, carrots, peas and comes with sambal. What surprised me was the raisins. It contained so much of raisins, even more than the pineapple itself. It would be perfect if it was called Raisin fried rice. But after all, it was okay.

So, here comes the bill, 3 Coffee Ice, 1 Kopi O Ice, 2 Pineapple fried rice, 1 fried rice, 1 Hawaii chicken rice. It adds up to RM41.60.

Seaweed from Korea

This is the seaweed from Korea. My aunt just came back from Korea recently. This is what she brought home. Seaweed, our family's favourite. Can't really tell what brand it is, because all are written in Korean. Though there are chinese words, I still couldn't read them.

This is the size of the seaweed. It comes in square pieces. It is a thin and crispy, just like a piece of paper. Slightly salted to give it a good taste. Mmmm.... Love it.

Chocolate Birthday Cake

Looking for a birthday cake and there are too many choices out there. Come and try the chocolate cake from Family Confectionery. Highly recommended as it has a nice presentation. Obviously, it is gonna be a bit costly, but it is totally worth the quality.

Top view of the cake. A nice presentation, don't you think? Not too crowded. Simple but nice.

Front view of the cake. Surrounded by pieces of white chocolate and milk chocolate. Though it doesn't taste like any other  branded chocolate, but it was not too bad.

Clearer view of the cake's topping. The cake is coated with chocolate, topped with chocolate of different sizes (the ones with circles, the wavy pink one behind and the cylindrical), and 3 strawberries.  The one with the circles just makes it looked so retro, Especially with the slightest gold shading on the it.

Here comes the cake. Did you notice the thickness of the chocolate? Normally in other cake shops, it is 85% of cake and 15% chocolate cream. But they are not stingy, they put as much chocolate cream as they could. That is why it is worth the price.

This is how it looks from the inside. Still looks awesome.
